These seminars are free to all students and staff of the ANU
All seminars are held between 12.30pm and 1.30pm.

Skills for Academic Success        
Presented by Shannon O’Brien
A single session lecture
No Registration required
12.00pm – 1.00pm Thursday 12 March
Location:  Chemistry Lecture Theatre 2 – Building 3
                                      
Academic success has a lot to do with managing our minds as well as our time and our resources. Developing skills for improved concentration, motivation and mood, among others, makes academic success all the more achievable. This lecture is an introduction to get you started straight away on using these ideas to reach your goals for academic success.


Riding The Wave: Resisting Panic Attacks
Presented by Carol Beynon and Sue Todd
A three part group session presented over three weeks
12.00pm – 1.00pm on Tuesdays 17, 24 and 31 March

A three week group for people who struggle with panic attacks. An opportunity to share knowledge, build skills and gain support.


Making Friends and Social Connections
Presented by Kylie Woodward
A single session workshop

It can be hard to make connections and develop friendships at university.  This informal and fun session aims to give you a range of ideas, from where to meet people, how to start conversations, and how to extend from acquaintance to friendship.  Also a chance to meet new people!


Understanding Depression and What We Can Do About It

A single session workshop

This workshop covers different ideas that have been found to be helpful in reducing depression and building vitality and resilience.


Staying Calm When Anxiety Hits
Presented Michelle Linmore
A single session workshop
10.00am – 12.00pm on Wednesday 29 April
To register, please complete a registration form available at the Art School, or the Counselling Centre

In this workshop we will share and discuss ways of responding to anxiety.  We will also practice some tried and true techniques that others have found helpful.


Managing Procrastination
Presented by Sue Todd
A single session workshop
12.00pm – 1.00pm on Tuesday 5 May

This workshop will assist people to problem solve with regard to their procrastination practices


Preparing For Exams
This workshop is offered jointly by the Academic Skills and Learning Centre and Counselling Centre.
Presented by Valli Rao and Michelle Linmore
A single session 2 hour workshop
12.00pm – 2.00pm on Tuesday 26 May
To register, please complete a registration form available at the Counselling Centre

The first half of this program will focus on the practical skills involved in exam preparation and performance eg: ways to study effectively, and ways to approach different exam questions.  The second half of the program will discuss ways of managing stress and anxiety so that you can do your best work.
